What type of certificate do I receive when I complete your course?

a. Upon the successful completion of Program One you will receive a “Certificate of Completion” stating that you successfully completed the Comprehensive Herbalist Training.
b. If you continue on to complete Program Two you will receive a second “Certificate of Completion” stating that you successfully completed the Advanced Herbalist Training program.
c. After completing Program Three: Certified Herbalist Training, and passing an exam you will receive full certification by the Institute (Herbalist Certificate) and can now refer to yourself as a “Certified Herbalist”.

How do these courses compare to those given in many of the acupuncture schools?

This is an in depth presentation of the Chinese herbal system. It exceeds the level of most of the schools in the country.

How long will it take me to complete your course?

We do not encourage you to rush through the material. It takes some time to develop an understanding of the Chinese healing system. Students usually take several months to complete the Comprehensive Herbalist Training and 1 - 5 years to finish the Advanced and Certified Training to become a Certified Herbalist.

How long do I have to complete each program?

We understand that each person learns at their own rate and circumstances often dictate how much time you have to study. This is why we do not set a time limit on finishing the courses. Study and learn at your own speed.

What happens if I have questions during the course?

No problem. You can call or email at anytime, someone will be available to discuss your questions with you.

What additional materials do I need to purchase?

Each course comes with extensive written material, so no other textbooks are necessary. However, some students find they would like to have additional reference material. We suggest some titles during the course and where to buy them. (Check out our Links page)

Can I legally practice giving herbs to people for their health problems?

At this point, no state has licensing guidelines for herbalists. You should be able to give herbs to anyone based on a TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) diagnosis. What you cannot do is to diagnose using a Western named disease. For example you cannot treat diabetes, but can give herbs to treat a systemic imbalance of excessive heat in the middle burner.

What prospects are there for your graduates?

Over the last few years, there has been an incredible surge of interest in herbal medicine throughout the entire country. Our students have found a variety of ways to use their knowledge to benefit others and create a new livelihood. Many establish a practice simply as an herbalist; others use it to complement another healing modality that they have training in (i.e. Massage therapy). We have had graduates hired by health food stores and chiropractic offices. In addition, others open their own herb business or sell herbs and related products.

Do you have financial aid?

What we have arranged in place of that is for students to be able to purchase one course at a time without a financial commitment to the entire program. For some, this pay as you go is more practical financially. However, you do receive discounts if you purchase an entire section. Of course, you can also use your Visa or MasterCharge card to pay for the enrollment fees.

How do I enroll?

That is the easy part. Simply click the Enrollment button after reading about the courses, or at the top of this page. You can download the application, then fill out all the necessary information and send it or fax it to us. Then once we have received the form, you can place your order over the phone. All information is confidential; we do not share personal information about our students with anyone.
